Gavurky forest is very rare oak forest which was originally used as a pasture land. From the medieval times up to the beginning of the 20th century have been used for pasturing not only the wide meadows but also forests.
During the Soviet period in Slovakia has been used this area as a military training area. Luckily there are no more relicts for these times. These oaks (Quercus robur) are here for hundred of years. The area is about 57 ha.
The atmosphere there is simply magic. you will feel like you travelled in time few centuries to the past…
Very close to the forest are situated ruins of castle Dobra Niva. Actually only one wall left.
