Komarno city is mostly famous because of fortification system. This system was not conquered by Turkish, neither by revolutionist, neither by Napoleon’s army. That confirms the sign on the fortress „NEC ARTE NEC MARTE! Neither by trick nor force!“. It is huge complex of fortification buildings, which has been built since 16th century up to end of 19th century.
The fortress in Komarno has many parts, but mainly the old and new.
But the whole system also includes Sandberg (Monoštorská) fortress, Palatínska línia – Bastión V, Vážska línia – Bastión VI, Igmandská fortress, Palatínska línia – Bastión II, Palatínska línia – Bastión I (Bratislavská gate), Dunajské predmostie.
