Levice city is situated in south part of Slovakia. The soil and good climate all around predestinate this area for growing grapes. I can confirm it on my own as I lived there for 6 years. Many people dedicated their lives to wine in a professional way or just like a hobby for own consumption.
There were few attempts to grow rice in Levice, but it did not work. Therefore is this area used as fishponds. So the failure with growing rice created a great environment for water loving birds and of course for fishes.
The castle ruins in Levice are situated close to the main square. This castle was also dedicated to protect the mining cities from south against Turkish attacks. In the area of the ruins is situated as well the Museum of Tekov area.
Just few meters from castle ruins is synagogue from 19. century. It was restored in last year and now is used for cultural events. Levice has also freshly reconstructed main square.
