Slovak castle Blatnica was built during 13. century. It was dedicated to protect the business route from Nitra city to the north. Later on was the route changed via Mosovce city and the purpose of the castle was lost. The Revai family reconstructed and built the castle again in 16. century. The castle was abandoned in 1790 and since then it decoyed.
Nowadays are some parts of the castle saved, mainly the walls and some architectonic elements. In December 2015 were still scaffoldings around some parts of the ruins.
Village Blatnica is well known as starting point for hiking in Slovak National Park Velka Fatra.
It is also wealth to visit village Mosovce near to Blatnica. You can see nice tree alleys in the park close to Manor house.
Straight from village Blatnica following yellow signs. You will walk on asphalt road and than you have to turn left to the forest and in 15 min you are there. Enjoy the nice view on National park Velka Fatra and hill Tlsta.
