Slovak castle Bojnice was mentioned for the first time in 1113. It was more like wooden fortress. This fortress was re-built to stone fortress during 13. century.
The most famous owners of the castle were Matus Cak Trenciansky who owned the castle till 1321, than Matej Korvin and Thurzo family. This family made reconstruction of the castle to renaissance residence. Palfi family rebuilt the castle again to barocco style. And finally during the years 1889 till 1910 was the castle rebuilt to neogothic style, which you can see also today.
Nowadays is the castle used as very rich and interesting museum. One of the most active in Slovakia. The guides are wearing historical costumes and also in many rooms are showmen showing the life in past.
